The Best Books for Babies and Toddlers: Indestructibles

The Best Books for Babies and Toddlers

If you want to foster a love of reading in your kiddos, you may be eager to start right away. Except babies, and often toddlers, aren’t always the easiest on books! Even good ol’ board books can be ruined by a drooly baby or persistent toddler.

Part of developing a love of reading, in my opinion, is letting kids get their hands on books and spend some time with them– on their own. But how can we do that when our little ones are so destructive? Give them Indestructibles! They are the perfect set for any child that is *less than gentle* with their books.

 Indestructibles: Truly Indestructible!

One of the ways that I have encouraged my kiddos to be book lovers is by giving them time to “read” to themselves every night before bed. It has worked beautifully as far as getting them to love reading, but some of our books didn’t fare so well after being handled by my 2-year-old, haha.

I was frustrated because I didn’t want to take books away from him, but knew I couldn’t allow him to continue ripping them apart. (And yes he even managed to rip board books!) So now he gets to look at his Indestructibles every night!

These books are seriously AMAZING if you have a baby or toddler. They don’t tear and can withstand all the drool a teething baby can offer. They’ve become a favorite of my very oral-centric 6 month old, who loves to chew on them!

I was skeptical on whether “indestructible” really meant indestructible, but they have held up amazingly so far! I bring them outside for the baby to play with in the backyard, and my 2 year old can pull all he wants– the don’t rip! Our other books are very thankful lol.

To add to their durability, Indestructibles are super easy to wash. When books get loved on the way these do, they’re bound to get dirty from time to time. But all you have to do is wipe them down with water and a mild soap and they clean right up without soaking through the pages!

Perfect for young book-lovers

Beyond the durable nature of the books, I also really appreciate what’s actually ON the pages as well. The books are full of colorful, engaging pictures that successfully capture the interest of both my 2-year-old and 6 month old!

My 2-year-old loves using these books to pretend he is truly reading. There aren’t many words on the pages, so it’s perfect for little ones that love telling their own story about the images.

For babies, these books make a great sensory activity! Not only are they colorful to look at, but my 6 month old loves to crinkle the books up and chew on them. Crinkle and chew books? Yep, good thing they’re indestructible!!

Safe for Handling

Speaking of babies, you may be wondering if these books are something you can feel comfortable letting them put in their mouth to begin with. Rest assured that they are nontoxic and perfectly safe for your little one! Indestructible are BPA, phthalate, PVC, and lead free.

If you have little littles in your house, I highly recommend trying out some of the Indestructibles books. It has been such a relief to know I can leave my kiddo in his bed with a few books, without concern over them getting ruined. Add in the fact that babies can grab at and chew on them, and you undoubtedly have the best books for babies and toddlers!
